Dr. Jacqueline Bowen (Bowen) Beza

Dr. Jacqueline Bowen Beza, age 85, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC.
Jackie was born in Burlington, Vermont, on September 11, 1935, to Merrick and Gladys Bowen. She was a 1953 graduate of Newport High School and a 1955 graduate of Green Mountain College. She met her husband, Angell Beza, in Nashua, New Hampshire and they married in 1956. Together they moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina where Jackie went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts in French in 1962, a Master of Arts in Romance Languages in 1964 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Adult and Higher Education in 1984. Jackie held a teaching position at Meredith College from 1964 to 1978. She joined the Office of Educational Development, School of Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1986 as a Postdoctoral Fellow and in 1988 as a Clinical Assistant Professor, a position she held until her retirement in 1994. When Angell passed away in 2004, Jackie moved back to the Newport, Vermont area where she lived for most of the rest of her life.

Jackie is survived by two daughters; Kathryn Richardson and husband, Ken of Glen Allen, Virginia and Lisa Dyment and husband, Brian of Pittsboro, North Carolina. Jackie is also survived by four grandchildren: Siobhan Beza, Grayson Richardson, Brooke Dyment and Evan Dyment; great-granddaughter, Sadira Beza-Howard; sister-in-law Donna Bowen; and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Angell G. Beza and her three brothers: Gordon Bowen of North Windham, Maine; Darrell Moore of Albany, Georgia and Robert Bowen of Newport, Vermont.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the North Charleston Cemetery in Vermont, where Jackie will be laid to rest beside her late husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Health Care or the Triangle Land Conservancy.
