Dr. David Lucas Miles, 70, of Pittsboro NC, beloved husband of Linda Theresa Miles, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
David was the son of the late James William Miles and Mary Jane Lucas Miles. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter Bevyn. He was born in Roanoke Virginia and raised in Greensboro North Carolina where he graduated from high school. David went on to attend The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He completed his doctorate at the University of Southern California. He then began his career as a chemist in New Jersey where he met his loving wife of 37 years. They made a life together and soon moved back to his home state of North Carolina where they raised their children.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his brother Jim Miles (Linda) of Greensboro/Wilmington NC; four children, Ashley Howard (Tim) of Wilmington NC; Alexis Dunaway (Todd) of North Augusta SC; Gabrielle Lewis (Daniel) of Chapel Hill NC and Lucas Miles (Jillian) of Chapel Hill NC and 11 grandchildren, Carson, Bradley, Cameron, Austin, Brynlee, Levi, Kennedy, Connor, Jackson, Peyton and Avery.
David was an avid lover of the outdoors and among many other hobbies enjoyed skiing, mountain climbing, sailing and gardening. He was a diehard born and bred Tarheel fan and enjoyed watching games with his family and friends.
