Dr. Angela Marie (Amato) Sally

Angela Sally passed away, suddenly but peacefully, in her sleep on Saturday, October 14th, 2023. She was in the comfort of her home and family, who she loved more than anything. Devoted mother, loving wife, and irreplaceable friend only begins to express just how wonderful Angela was. Although she was only 39 when she passed, she lived her years fully with many successful achievements. She was a remarkable woman who touched many lives and created beautiful memories. 

Angela was a respected physician at Duke University Health System. She fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor by putting herself through college, medical school, and residency; having graduated from The Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and Wright State University family medicine residency. Angela cared deeply about the environment, sustainable living, and supporting local businesses. She loved and protected all animals, big and small. There was never a bug she wouldn’t set free or a dog she didn’t want to adopt. Above all else, she was most happy and proud when spending time with her three daughters. 

She is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Moran. Angela is survived by a loving husband (Elliott), three wonderful daughters (Lenora, Ada and Emery), her sister (Nicole), brothers (Anthony and John), and two lifelong best friends (Genni and Ruth). Not to mention, many other great friends that she considered her chosen family. Angela always expressed that she would prefer a celebration of life in place of a traditional funeral, and thoughtful donations instead of flowers. Therefore, we invite you to make a donation to Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary (BeautifulTogetherSanctuary.com), or to your local animal rescue, in her honor.  A celebration of Angela’s life will be arranged in Rosendale, NY in the future (to be announced) and a receiving of friends, intimate viewing will be held in Pittsboro NC at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct 21st, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.   Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Sally family.
