Daniel Scott Niu was born on April 6th, 2003 at Duke Hospital in Durham, North Carolina and passed away at his home on October 15, 2020 in Siler City.
Daniel was a senior at East Chapel Hill High School at the time. He tragically left us by suicide. Daniel spent his childhood in Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill and Atlanta. He spent his sophomore summer of high school volunteering at Duke Hospital.
Beloved son of Steve Niu and Ling Bao, he was the cheerful brother of Jing Niu. He played as a lineman on the Wildcats football team and the clarinet on the school band. He was a gentle soul loved by all. He spent a lot of time with animals, loved to read and loved internet memes. He spoke English, Chinese and was actively learning Spanish and Japanese in school. Daniel is survived by many cousins and family members in China.
A Funeral Service for Daniel will be held 10:00AM, Wednesday, October 28, in the chapel of Donaldson Funeral Home and Crematory in Pittsboro, NC with the Rev. Dr. Martel A Perry officiating. A Committal service will follow at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City, NC.
The family would like to thank everyone who has given well wishes to us during this time.
