Mrs. Daisy Mae Hatley, 89, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice Home in Pittsboro, NC.
A native of McDowell County, West Virginia, Daisy was born May 1, 1932, daughter to the late Edith Oakley Hunt and David Pride Hunt.
Daisy worked at Roses for 25 years and then worked another 12 years at Adam and Eve before retiring. She loved to shop, get her hair and nails done, dining out and playing BINGO! There are many fond memories of family trips to Salter Path Beach where Daisy enjoyed soaking in the sun's rays while her children and grandchildren would play close by. She loved her family and had a special love for her three cats, although Tifa was her baby.
She was married for 65 years to John "Billy" Willis Hatley until his passing in 2013. In addition to her husband, Daisy was preceded in death by three of her grandsons; Michael Brown, Jr., Richard Brown and Curtis Tackett; her son-in-law, Rex Tackett; her brother, David Hunt; and three of her sisters, Mary Dodson, Lois Mauer and Betty Worrell.
Daisy is survived by her daughters; Vickie Ann Hatley Tackett, of Temple, GA and Deborah "Debbie" Lynn Hatley (Juan), of Pittsboro; her two granddaughters, Crystal Maklary (Billy) of Fayetteville, NC and Teresa Tackett Sisco (Irvin) of Pittsboro; seven great-grandchildren, Kevin Helbert, Hailey Mclaren, William Waddell, Michael Brown, III, Devin Brown, Tinsley Brown, Lainey Tackett and Irvin Sisco, III; one great-great-grandchild, Dovain Mclaren, Jr.; her brother, Bobby Hunt, of Fresno, CA; and her two sisters, Pearl Hunt Williams, of Pittsboro and Mary Jane Hunt, of Raleigh, NC; along with many nieces, nephews and close friends.
The family will receive friends and family 1-2:00PM, Sunday, September 19, 2021 in the chapel of Donaldson Funeral Home and Crematory - 396 West St. Pittsboro, NC 27312.
A service to honor her life will follow at 2:00PM, with the Reverend Ray Gooch officiating. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn during the services.
Following the service, she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Billy, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery - 1309 N Pea Ridge Rd, Pittsboro, NC 27312
