Charles Kreinar, 83, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away at UNC Medical Center on November 22nd, surrounded by family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bonnie Kreinar, his three children, Eric Kreinar (wife Heidi Steiber Kreinar), Kelly Kreinar Dunning (husband John Dunning), Jean Kreinar, and his four grandchildren; Troy Musgrave, Scarlett Musgrave, Ella Kreinar, and Camille Kreinar.
He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Charles was predeceased by his 3 siblings, Marguerite Weber, Edward Kreinar, and Robert Kreinar.
Charles, (known to most as Chuck), was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph, a bricklayer, and Margaret (n. Erdeyi) Kreinar, a singer and dancer.
Chuck was an adventurous youngster who enjoyed playing all sports. He attended South Hills High School in Pittsburgh and upon graduation, enlisted in the Army Reserve, for which he boot- and summer-camped at Fort Dix manning artillery, which would have a significant long term impact on his hearing.
He eventually went on to attend business school in Pittsburgh, with a focus on sales and marketing. This led him to a 35 year career adventure with USAir, formerly Allegheny Airlines, and a career with American Express in retirement that he was extremely proud of.
Chuck truly loved his work and his colleagues, traveling around the world regularly, always returning with stories and gifts to share with his wife and all of his children.
Chuck was a devoted husband and father, and if possible, an even more dedicated grandfather.
He wore his love for his family on his sleeve. Everyone knew how proud he was of them and how much they were loved by him.
Spending time with his family was what gave him the most joy. He loved playing golf with his son, good conversation paired with a cigar and a good bottle of wine, and being with his grandchildren.
He also cherished his time with his many wonderful friends, met either through work, the neighborhood, or his children's friends.
Chuck gave to many charities and especially in later years, was very concerned with the plight of the underprivileged and military veterans.
He will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at Donaldson Funeral Home on Saturday, December 10th at 2:00 p.m.
