Cathryn Joyce “Cathy” Buckley (née Koenig), born April 22, 1942, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Cathy later made her home in Marin County, where she and her beloved husband of 59 years, Edward Timothy Buckley, raised their three sons. In 1994, Cathy and Tim moved to the East Coast to be closer to family after Jay and Kim relocated there, beginning a new chapter surrounded by their growing grandchildren.
Cathy is survived by her three sons: Jeff Buckley and his wife Cheryl; Jay Buckley and his wife Kim; and Joel Buckley and his wife Elizabeth. She was a proud grandmother to Kevin and Mitchell; Kelsey, Jake, Tim, and Ava; and Pella and Tanner, and a loving great-grandmother to Reid and Payton.
Cathy was known for her love of entertaining and never missed a detail when hosting, from the menu to the theme to the decorations. She delighted in giving beautifully wrapped, thoughtful gifts and was equally happy to receive them.
Next to her family, Cathy’s greatest passion was travel. She approached every new place, from small towns to distant countries, with enthusiasm and curiosity. Austria held a special place in her heart; she traveled there more than 25 times and loved sharing the experience with friends. She also maintained many cherished friendships that began in early childhood.
It feels especially fitting that she passed on Valentine’s Day, as anyone who knew her appreciated her remarkable sweet tooth and her fondness for See’s Candies.
Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew and loved her.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Buckley family.
