Obituary
Mrs. Carlene Oakley Sturdivant, 104, peacefully passed away early Wednesday morning, December 11, 2019, in her home at Chatham Ridge Assisted Living in Chapel Hill, NC.
An Orange County native, Carlene was born June 20, 1915, daughter to the late Stephen and Lillie Self Oakley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 60 years, William "Eugene" Sturdivant; one grandchild, Dana Jo Boals; six of her siblings, Clora Mae Fitch, Elmer Oakley, Claiborne Oakley, Frances Watson, Joyce Holloman and Melba Oakley.
Mrs. Sturdivant is survived by her daughters, Melba Jean Vickers and Jo Anne Merritt; "son-in-love", Deryl; granddaughter, Andrea Vickers; great-grandson, Chad Boals; and her sister, Mildred Hobby.
The family will receive guests from 10-11:00AM Friday, December 13, 2019 at Carrboro United Methodist Church,200 Hillsborough Rd., Carrboro, NC 27510.
The funeral will start at 11:00AM with burial following in Westwood Cemetery.
