With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Bettie “Betty” Louise Bailey Crabtree, who left this world peacefully at the age of 93 on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the home of her daughter in Sanford, North Carolina.
Born to the late Henry David and Dora Elizabeth Williams Bailey, Betty’s life was a testament to quiet strength, deep faith, and the unshakable bonds of family. A proud graduate of the North Carolina School for the Deaf in Morganton, she found not only an education there, but a lifelong community. She graduated in 1952 and, that December, married the love of her life, William Dallas Crabtree. Their 22 years of marriage were filled with shared dreams, hard work, and the joy of raising a family.
Betty found beauty in life’s simplest pleasures—gathering around a table with loved ones, capturing memories through photographs, creating with her hands, and exploring the world with curiosity and wonder. She gave with a generous heart and welcomed everyone with warmth and laughter.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Betty was a devoted member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and took great joy in her involvement with The Father’s Hands Deaf Ministry, where she found purpose and fellowship.
She worked faithfully at McMichael Mills in Burlington until retirement, but her true legacy lies in the love she poured into her family and the countless lives she touched with kindness and grace.
Betty now reunites in peace with her beloved husband, William Dallas Crabtree, her cherished son, Larry David Crabtree, and her dear brothers, David Eugene Bailey and Thomas Lofton Bailey.
She leaves behind a family who adored her: her son, Donald William Crabtree; her daughter, Debbie Crabtree Conner; nine cherished grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her love forward into future generations.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for the calls, visits, and unwavering support received during this time. A special thank you to the Gentiva Hospice team for their exceptional and tender care.
A graveside service to honor Betty’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Cedar Cliff United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4683 Cedar Cliff Road, Graham, NC 27253.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in her honor to the Deaf Ministry Class at Glen Hope Baptist Church, 911 North Avenue, Burlington, NC 27217.
Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the Crabtree family.
