Alena Konecny

My wife and guiding light Alena Konecny, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday June 24, 2023. She was 53 years of age, displaying a love of life every day to all that knew her. Alena was born and raised in Massachusetts, eventually moving south settling in Chapel Hill, NC enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine, so as she liked to say, “to charge my solar batteries”. She was indeed solar powered, providing warmth and sunshine to all that knew and loved her.

Alena is survived by her husband Gary Gittere, her father Joe and mother Alena Konecny, her sister Michelle Eastman, a niece Kiera, and nephews Joey and Collin.

Alena loved birds and all things in nature so in lieu of flowers or food, her family is asking that donations be made to the The National Audubon Association ATTN: Donations 225 Varick Street, 7th floor New York, New York 10014.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Governors Club in Chapel Hill, NC.
