Albert Roland Cooke

Albert Roland Cooke, Jr, age 75, died at UNC Healthcare in Hillsborough on Monday, July 15, 2024, with his wife by his side. He was born on September 18, 1948, in Goldsboro, NC to Albert R. Cooke, Sr. and Mabel Thompson Cooke.

Albert is survived by his wife, Daphne Hill, mother, Mabel Thompson Cooke, his brother, Travis Cooke (Pam) of Wilmington, NC, his stepdaughter, Sarah Petty Butler (Lem) of Raleigh, NC, his grandchildren, Emerson, Zora, Marley, Donya, his nephew, Garrison Cooke and his niece, Meredith Fitch as well as his two cats, Sparky and Chora.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Roland Cooke, Sr. and stepdaughter, Olivia Royal Petty.

He has lots of interests; gardening, birding, coral reef snorkeling, traveling, reading, and running. He won the Speed Walk event at the Chatham County Senior Games 2024 and the 5K run (in his age group) at a YMCA event in 2023.

Albert will be missed by all who knew him. To honor him, a Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00AM at 488 Poythress Road Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
