William Horace Petty, Sr. 90, passed away to be with his Lord Jesus on May 14, 2019.
Born in Pittsboro, NC, July 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Edward Hale Petty and Inez White Petty. He leaves behind his wife, Frances Gee Petty; son, Billy Petty (Von), daughter, Gail Gibson (Charlie), son, Bert Petty (Marilyn); grandchildren, Kelly Hall (Chris), Kristen Rundell (Ethan), Jonathan Petty (Nicole); great-grandchildren, Katie Hall, Caleb Hall, John Anders Rundell, and Thomas Petty; special nephew, Dale Bryant, and niece Phyllis Hancock. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
He and Frances were married for almost 68 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Siler City, he was also a member of Hanks Chapel Church in Pittsboro before he and Frances moved to Siler City. He served faithfully in both churches in different ministries. He worked for Chatham Mills in Pittsboro, NC for 45 years, retiring as the Assistant Superintendent. Horace served for eight years as Town Councilman in Pittsboro, was an avid sports fan, and his favorite team being the Carolina Tarheels. He was loved and well respected by all family members and friends.
The visitation will be on Saturday, May 18th, 2 to 3 P.M. and the funeral at 3 P.M. at Hanks Chapel Church in Pittsboro, NC.
