Thomas “Tommy” Wesley Carson died suddenly on Saturday, August 10, 2019. During the last 8 years, Tommy endured many illnesses.
Tommy was born in Chatham County, NC on August 29, 1940. He was the son of the late Thomas Caley Carson and Agnes Edna ((McFarland) Herndon. In addition, Tommy was preceded in death by his brother, Eddie Wayne Carson.
Tommy was a graduate of Pittsboro High School, Class of 1958. He also attended Bells School.
He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 35 years, Paula Lynn (Abramson) Carson; daughter, Teresa Dawn (Carson) Mitchell (Robert); grandchildren, Kayla Alexis Mitchell, A. Van Wesley Mitchell and Hayden Wayne Mitchell; half-sister Becky (Sparrow) Eubanks (Robert); Mother-in-law Betty Goldyne (Abramson) Sonner; sister-in-laws, Diane (Abramson) Pons (Britt) and Karen (Abramson) Haas (Jeff); lifelong friend/brother Wayne Gaines (Delores); and many loving nieces and nephews.
Before he retired, Tommy owned University Auto Supply, in Carrboro, NC for over 30 years. He was kind and genuine with a welcoming smile. He was funny and had a big heart. There were many good times during his life spent with family and friends especially at his home away from home on Topsail Island. Tommy’s main interest was his love of antique cars for which he was a member of 2 car clubs. He loved going to car shows and driving his ’72 Corvette.
A reception celebrating Tommy's life will be Saturday, August 24th from 1-3pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home in Pittsboro, NC.
