Terrance John Ransbury Sr. (Terry) 89, recently of Pittsboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2018 in Pittsboro after struggling with dementia. Terry was born September 2, 1928 in Dunkirk, NY to Murray and Catherine Ransbury. He is survived by his brother David Ransbury of Strongsville, OH and children Terry Ransbury, Jr. of Wake Forest, NC, Robin Gray of Willow Springs, NC, and Martin Ransbury of Los Angeles, CA. He is predeceased by his parents, wife Judith Marie (Reimann) Ransbury of Snyder, NY, and sister Nancy Grogan of Dallas, TX.

Terry graduated from the State University of NY at Brockport in 1951 and earned a Masters Degree from Indiana University in 1955. He served in the US Military achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant US Army and 82nd Airborne. Following military service, he was a longtime teacher and multisport coach at Dunkirk, Silver Creek, and Clarence High Schools in NY State. He was also an assistant football coach at the University of Buffalo and an NFL scout with the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears.

A celebratory service for Terry will be held in the coming spring in upstate New York.
