Mary Thelma (Sanders) Goodman

Mary Thelma Sanders Goodman, age 92, of Pittsboro, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the UNC Hospice House.

Mary was born October 14, 1926 in Chatham County, NC to the late Clen Sanders and Laura Hearne Sanders.  She was also preceded in death by her husband David “Dave” Goodman, and seven brothers Carden, Bim, Bernice, Ernest, John Basil, Clem, and Lester.

Surviving relatives include daughters, Peggy Gilmore and husband Billy of Chapel Hill, Helen Waldeck and husband Fred of Pittsboro, Carolyn Carson and husband Al of Creedmoor, son Jimmy Goodman and wife Linda of Pittsboro, ten grandchildren,17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and sisters Alma Arnold of Pittsboro and Christine Mitchell of Pittsboro.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 5, 2019 from 10AM to 11AM at Solid Rock Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow at 11AM with Pastor Jerry Sanders presiding. Burial will follow at Bynum United Methodist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made in her memory to UNC Hospice P.O. Box 1077 Pittsboro, NC 27312 or Solid Rock Baptist Church 3909 US 64 West Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Anyone wishing to provide food to the family should take the food to Solid Rock Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 3 from 3PM to 5PM.
