PITTSBORO, NC - Jane Mauldin Whitaker, age 64, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Chatham Hospice Home.
She was born in Decatur, GA to Henry Walter and Frances Radford Mauldin. She grew up in Vienna, VA; graduated from Campbell University; and taught Home Economics to middle and high school students in Washington County, VA for over 25 years.
She was an active member of Abingdon Bible Church, where she grew in love for Jesus and formed great friendships. After her retirement, she relocated to be closer family and made significant friendships at Crossway Church and Chatham Community Church.
She is survived by the following family members: her two daughters, Amy Tamayo and her husband Steve, of Pittsboro, NC and JeanAnn Gilfus and her husband Quintin of Wilson, NC; her five grandchildren, William Radford Tamayo, Jackson Kerr Tamayo, Lucy Elizabeth Tamayo, Henry Scott Tamayo, and Aubrey Grace Gilfus; and her siblings, Judy Beggs and her husband Dave, Trudy Lombardi and her husband Paul, and Henry Mauldin and his wife Renee Barrett.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 6th at 9:30am at Chatham Community Church (480 Hillsboro St. Pittsboro, NC 27312) with Rev. Paul Bufford and Rev. Alex Kirk presiding. The family will receive visitors afterwards at The Pickle Jar Cafe around the corner from the church.
