Ellen McDaniel Ornat

Ellen McDaniel Ornat, age 70, of Pittsboro died Monday, December 18, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Jim and Betsy Bryan UNC Hospice House.

Ellen was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on August 7, 1947 to the late Dr. Chester Morley McDaniel and Joyce Crim McDaniel-Dawson.  She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Megan Ellen Ornat and her daughter Joy Ellen Ornat.

Surviving relatives include her husband Steven Ornat, her son Daniel Ornat and his wife Amanda and their sons Benjamin, Jude, Joseph and Ezekiel of Lithia Springs, Georgia; her daughter Jessica Ornat of Pittsboro; her sister Jeneanne Sieck and her husband Keith Sieck of Sanibel, Florida; and her grandchildren Brianna, Jaden and Mannie of Miami, Florida.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 22, 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at Donaldson Funeral Home & Cremation Griffin Chapel in Pittsboro.  The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 2pm at West End Fellowship Church in Carrboro where Pastors Dustin Lee, Troy Johnson and Ray Gooch will preside.  All guests are invited to the burial immediately following the funeral at St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Pittsboro.  A reception will follow the burial in the fellowship hall of Brown’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Pittsboro.
