Carolyn MacIntyre Obituary

Carolyn E. Bergstrom-MacIntyre, 88

Carolyn Elise Bergstrom-MacIntyre passed away on January 24, 2019 at her ‘Caring home’ of Pittsboro Christian Village.

Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Richard T. MacIntyre from Leominster MA, in 2005. She leaves two daughters, JoEllen Kellenbeck of Portsmouth, NH and Lisa MacIntyre-Janson of Pittsboro, NC; seven grandchildren: Casey, Erin and Brianna; and Kyle, Elise, Kaleb and Makayla and two great-grandchildren: Randy and Alexia.

Carolyn was born and raised in Worcester, MA until her marriage in 1951. Travels took her to live in Rochester, NY, Portsmouth, NH and lastly North Carolina. As an important passion in her life, Carolyn gave more than 20 years to the Girl Scouts, both as a leader and lead person in developing Government Day.  She was recognized with several awards for her years of dedication to the organization. No one was a stranger to Carolyn; she would always make an effort to talk with others. She became involved with the CORA Food Pantry here in NC and trained with Stephen Ministries to council others.  Her heart was in helping people, and that she did well.  Never one to complain, Carolyn overcame great adversity in her life due to health issues. She took on all challenges with great courage.

Carolyn will now join her husband in Leominster MA. She did not want any ceremonies or memorials. In remembrance, a floral arrangement will be placed at her church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, CORA Food Pantry of Pittsboro NC, or the Girl Scouts in Rochester NY.  Her smile and strength will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family ask for memorial contributions to be made in Carolyn’s memory to one of the following; Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street NW, Washington, DC 20006-35171, CORA Food Pantry, 40 Camp Drive, Pittsboro NC · Mail: PO Box 1326, Pittsboro NC 27312, or Girl Scouts of Rochester NY, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Door 9, Rochester, NY 14620
