Elizabeth Taylor Obituary

Elizabeth “Libby” Brown Taylor, 81, of Pittsboro, NC, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2024, in Chapel Hill and is now with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ forever more.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 28, 1942, to Roy and Mildred (Salmon) Brown, the family moved back to North Carolina and lived happily with Libby’s siblings, Janet, and Ricky, in Harnett County. She attended Lee County High School, Campbell College, and Troutman’s Beauty School before starting her career in Chapel Hill. She loved being a hairdresser and was a dear friend to her many clients for over 50 years.

In 1979, Libby met her loving husband, Richard “Rick” Taylor, through mutual friends and married on June 6, 1981, in Chapel Hill. She was a devoted mother to her son, William Shannon Cameron, and her stepchildren.

In addition to her husband, Rick, she is survived by her son, William Shannon Cameron and his wife, Debra of Pittsboro, NC, and her grandchildren, including William “Alex” and James “Brandon” of Pittsboro, NC. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Janice Taylor, Nancy Stein, Mark Taylor, and Linda Pautzke and her wonderful step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Janet Boyette and her husband, John Boyette of Marion, NC, her brother, Richard Melvin Brown and his wife, Donna of Hamlet, NC.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred, and her father, Roy Brown.

A funeral service to celebrate Libby’s life will be one o’ clock, Friday afternoon, April 19, 2024, in her beloved childhood church, Antioch Baptist Church, 6670 Old US Hwy 421, Lillington, NC. with the family receiving guests from 12:00 to 12:45 pm in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be offered to the Chatham County Aging Services located at 365 NC 87, Pittsboro, NC 27312, or the charity of your choice.

Libby will be forever missed by her loving husband, son, and many dear friends.

May God grant her eternal rest.
