Bridget Claire (Cullinane) Browne

Bridget Claire Cullinane Browne (“Claire”), was born on October 26, 1934 and died peacefully at home in Pittsboro on January 16, 2018 with her family at her side.

She was born in Athenry, Co. Galway, Ireland and moved to London at age 14. She moved to New York City in 1959 where she met her future husband, Jack. After living and working across the Northeastern US, they retired to Fearrington Village. In her twenty years of living in North Carolina, she made it as much her home as Ireland. She gave of herself in community and church volunteer work.

She was predeceased by her husband John Patrick (Jack) in 2014.

She is survived by her son, Michael Liam and his partner, Piotr Piecha; a grandson, Peter James; one sister and two brothers; as well as nieces and nephews in the US, Ireland and the UK.

A Funeral Mass will commence Friday, January 26, at 10:30am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church - 940 Carmichael St, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
